Our Founder and CEO, Kenny Natt, former head coach of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, and long time assistant coach of the Utah Jazz, realized that more was needed in our community to help and re-direct our youth from the unfavorable social, educational, economic and moral trends indicated in our newspapers and newscasts everyday. The very disappointing statistics regarding the high school dropout rates, gang violence, teen pregnancy, drug abuse, etc. are extremely alarming. He, as well as many of you, have heard and seen the signs as a result of these problems. He needed a means by which he could give back to his community, including the surrounding areas.

Therefore, in the summer of 2002, he held the 1st Annual PSYM Multi-Sports Camp. He was enthusiastically and generously assisted by a team of volunteers which consisted mostly of his high school classmates and members of the 1975 4A State Championship team.

Over the years, thousands of area youth have attended PSYM camps. In addition to providing a fun atmosphere where they are instructed how to develop their athletic skills in various sports, they are also encouraged to achieve academically and hold themselves to a higher standard socially.

PSYM Annual Multi-SportsCamps are dedicated to the memory of Ms. Inez Grant, a former Physical Education and Math teacher in the Morehouse Parish School System. We at the Pelican State Youth Movement, as she did, hope to inspire our youth to “get involved and try”.

Our Multi-Sports Camp exposes our kids to a variety of sports like basketball, golf, volleyball, soccer, tennis, track & field, aerobics, etc.  This approach increases the chances of a participant finding a sport or activity that may spark their interest, thus leading to a more active and healthy lifestyle. Even the most athletically challenged will learn the lessons of teamwork, sportsmanship and respect for other’s contribution to a team effort.  It is our hope that these lessons will hold fast in their hearts and minds, so that they will apply them to their everyday lives and in their future endeavors. We continue to add activities and events to our programs that will help and inspire our youth to achieve educationally, aspire to be good people and citizens, and get involved in their community.
